Delivery Basics

Its always good to give buyers different delivery options so that they can choose the best one.

Setting delivery fees is very important as buyers can choose items based on these fees. It is recommended to put a 0.00 fee for collections unless you incur an overhead when a collection is done. Here are some of the rules to use.

How to set competitive delivery fees

  • It is a good idea to check what other sellers are charging for postage fees.
  • Buyers are motivated to buy when they are given discounts, so try to include the delivery fee in the price and offer zero fees.
  • Do offer discounts for certain time periods and always have a fee structure for all the other days.
  • Have an idea of the weight of an item and its size and enquire how much it might cost to post and then set your fee.

Sending items for delivery

Posting items is essential as it determines whether an item will be returned or not. Wrong packaging can make the order either get damaged or deformed so always make sure to use the right packaging.

Use bubble wrapping for delicate items and make sure to have the right weight and size to ensure that the item is received. Always keep receipts of postage in the event there is a problem with the order.

Update order status

As soon as you sent out an order either via delivery or postage, update the order status in the timeline so that the buyer knows the order has dispatched. If you are delivery the order, you can also update that the order is out for delivery and update buyer via chat of the likely times the order can be delivered.

Delivery completed

When sending out items on postage, its better to use signed for method so that you know that the order has been received by buyer. If delivering in person, always take pictures of the delivery either with the door number or user holding the items. Orders go wrong so many times and this can be of help in resolving issues when they arise and ensure a speedy resolution.
